External content type is vaild but not contents shows in the dropdown selection

When you select a valid External Content Typle, there will be no columns to map.

Solution:

One of the most common reason is that customer may have done some customizations of the External Content Type Operation names. Calendar Rollup will only recognize the name in defual, any customization will lead such issue.

The below example: customer has changed the names of such External Content Type Operations, then just Change “Vw_EmployeePTORead List” back to “Read List”, and “Vw_EmployeePTOReadItem” back to “Read Item”. Then the issue will be fixed.

Column/View Permission Malfunction

After the installation, either the Column Permission or View Permission doesn’t work at all, the permission doesn’t take effect.

Solution:

There are 5 possible reasons:

1. Check if the Column/View Permission is deployed to the current web application (under Central Administration page -> System Settings -> Manage Farm Solutions)

2. Check if the Column/View Permission feature is activated in site collection features page in which the site collection the product will be used.

3. Permission won’t take effect for Site Collection Admin, please make sure you log on SharePoint as a normal users (not Site Collection Admin).

4. Check if the ‘Site Actions’ is hidden in your master page, or any customization has been made that affect the ‘Site Actions’ button.

5. The product does not work with compatible mode. For example, SharePoint 2010 with V3 mode, that means you work with SharePoint 2010, but the User Interface looks like SharePoint 2007. The same as the SharePoint 2013 with SharePoint 2010 User Interface.

No ‘Add Calendar’/ ‘Calendar Settings’ option in Web Part menu

I’ve lost the ability in the Calendar Rollup to add a calendar. The option doesn’t show up in the tools drop down list either. I have Full Control permission on the site. If I edit page, I can see Add Calendar option, once I check in and publish though its gone.

Solution:

Cause: SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature in the Site Collection feature and SharePoint Server Publishing in Manage site feature have been enabled. In this case, the product will recognizes the site as a publish site, the menu will be only shown under Edit mode.

Solution: Need to CHECK OUT the Calendar Rollup Web Part in Edit Page. Then the gear menu display correctly and ‘Add Calendar’ option shows up. Status: Checked out and editable.

How to customize password reset email content?

Solution:

Change the relevant resource file can customize the email content. Please follow the steps below:

1. Go to the ‘Reource’ folder from the server side. Normally,

For SharePoint 2010, the direcotry is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Resources

For SharePoint 2007, the directory is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Resources

For SharePoint 2013, the directory is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\Resources

2. Then locate the file: SPB.SharePointBoost.PasswordReset.UI.resx , and open with Visual studio

3. In the resouce file, find the property:

UserCustomEmailValidation_ConfirmEmailBody

UserCustomEmailValidation_EmailBody

4. Change the related value to the one desired.

Please note that, for multiple language environment, the file name in Step 2 would be like SPB.SharePointBoost.PasswordReset.UI.de-DE.resx or SPB.SharePointBoost.PasswordReset.UI.en-US.resx , all the related language resx file need to be modified. Also, for multiple WFE server environment, same procedure should be done in each server.

To change the tooltip's content

To replace the text that appears when you hover over an event from“Edit Event” | “Delete Event” to the content do you need.

Solution:

1. Please to go to the SharePoint Server and follow the location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Resources

(Notice: 14 for SharePoint 2010, replace to 15, if you are working with SharePoint 2013)

2. You will be able to find the file named: SPB.SharePointBoost.Calendar.Core.en-US.resx

3. To press Ctrl + F to find the key words: EventManagement_Action_EditEvent and EventManagement_Action_DeleteEvent.

4. To change the tag to any contents do you need.

5. To clear cache in the browser.

How to set up the values for column [Approval Status]

When content approval feature is turned on in SharePoint list/library, there will be a default column [Approval Status] out there which contains three values: Pending, Rejected and Approved.

How to set up the values for column [Approval Status] in Alert Reminder Boost condition?

Solution:

Column [Approval Status] has corresponding values in below table:

Status	Internal Value
Approved	0
Rejected/Denied	1
Pending	2
Draft	3
Scheduled	4

To set up condition like:

[Approval Status] == "Approved" || [Approval Status] == "Rejected"

You need to set it up as below:

[Approval Status] == "0" || [Approval Status] == "1"

(With or without double quotation marks both works for version before 3.0.)

For versions after 3.0, you need to set up as following:

[Approval Status] == 0 || [Approval Status] == 1

How to get farm ID/server CODE without installing License Management Center, or enter Central Administration?

Solution:

Download a script tool from this link from the SharePoint server side: http://www.boostsolutions.com/software/FREETool/Get-LicenseCode.zip
Unzip the file, and right-click the file ‘Get-LicenseCode.ps1′, select ‘Run With PowerShell’
A file will be generated automatically under the same directory of the script file, the farm ID and server CODE will be included in.

Installing/Uninstalling Products using stsadm command line

How to install/uninstall BoostSolutions products using stsadm command line

Solution:

Installation:

Open the SharePoint bin directory: cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\14\BIN (12 refers to SP2007, 14 refers to SP2010, 15 refers to SP2013)
Unzip the product installation file(.zip), and copy the file with .wsp to the same directory as in step 1
Open the Command Line (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt) and goes to the same directory as step1, or use powershell
Input the command line:

stsadm -o addsolution –filename SharePointBoost.LookupBoostSetup14.1.wsp

Then deploy solution with command line:

stsadm -o deploysolution -name SharePointBoost.LookupBoostSetup14.1.wsp -immediate -allowgacdeployment -allcontenturls

***************************************************************

Uninstallation:

Open the command line portal
Input stsadm command to retract solution:

stsadm –o retractsolution –name sharepointboost.crosssitelookuppachsetup14.2.wsp –allcontenturls –immediate

Then delete solution:

stsadm –o deletesolution –name sharepointboost.crosssitelookuppachsetup14.2.wsp

Failed to create receiver object from assembly "SharePointBoost………"

Error message "Fail to create receiver object from assembly …" shows up when installing/upgrade product, like the screenshot below:

Solution:

To resolve this, need to install the related product mentioned in the error message. Then go to web application feature -> deactivate the feature -> run the installer again to remove the product.

This solution can be applied to all products that have web application features below:

Column/View Permission, Cascaded lookup column, Cross-site lookup column

This issue might NOT occur for these products that have web application features:

Alert Reminder Boost, AD Information Sync, Data Connector, Password Change, Excel Import, Permission workflow
