Basically, Column/View Permission deals with the approval of certain users to be able to view, edit or just allow them to read-only a certain column in your SharePoint.
Like the image above, an employee can see his details but just to read-only level. The Manager can read and edit his details whilst the Human Resource can read, edit and even view a column that is sensitive to the employee or manager – which is the Salary column.
With SharePoint Column/View Permission, users can:
- Hide columns in new/view/edit form
- Set columns to read-only in edit form
- Hide views or disable ribbon bottom
- Setting permissions for users or groups on Column/Views according to customized conditions
