In a\nSharePoint list, if you want a Number Column displays its value that includes a\nspecific unit of measurement, you may have to customize the SharePoint list\nform, or create a calculated column to combine the value with unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BoostSolutions\nconsiders this requirement and launches a new product Measured Number Column,\nwhich provides an easy way to displays\nits value so that it can include a specific unit of measurement. The end users\njust need to enter a Number, and for the column to display with the suffix such\nas m3<\/sup>, lb and kg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the\nfollowing example, we will introduce how to use this product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a SharePoint list named Shipping List, it contains the items details. We will create several Measured Number columns to record such as Weight, Length, Height, Width and Volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the List Settings<\/strong> > Columns<\/strong> section, click Create column<\/strong>. In the Create Column<\/strong> page, specify the name as Weight, the column type as Measured Number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Additional\nColumn Settings<\/strong> section, specify the Measurement<\/strong> as mass<\/strong>, Unit<\/strong>\nas kilogram<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we\nunselect Use full unit name instead of abbreviation<\/strong> option, then the\nweight will be shown as kg; otherwise, it will be shown as kilogram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need the input number in a specific range, so we set the Min as 0 and Max as 10000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep other\nsettings as default, and then click OK<\/strong> to create the column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in this\nlist, create another Measured Number column named as Length<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Additional Column Settings<\/strong> section, specify the Measurement<\/strong> as length<\/strong>, Unit<\/strong> as meter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repeat above steps to create more Measured Number columns named as Height and Width in the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigate to the list, create an item. In the item form, you will find the unit of measurement are shown as following, you just need to input the numeric in the box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After creating multiple items, you will find that the numbers are shown with their units configured as shown below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we will\ncreate a Calculated Measured Number column to compute the volume based on the\nvalue of Length, Height and Width columns in this list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the List Settings<\/strong> > Columns<\/strong> section, click Create column<\/strong>. In the Create Column<\/strong> page, specify the name as Volume, the column type as Calculated Measured Number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then specify\nthe Measurement<\/strong> as volume<\/strong>, Unit<\/strong> as cubic emtre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we unselect Use full unit name instead of abbreviation<\/strong> option, then the volume will be shown as m3<\/sup>; otherwise, it will be shown as cubic metre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Return to the list, the volume of each item has been calculated and with the unit as below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
